Well, I have a sweet tooth. And this time all I wanted was to have some Tiramisu. So I asked on Facebook if anyone knew where I could find the best Tiramisu in the city of Brno. Only one of my friends answered. He told me to go to a place near the center where they serve freshly made pasta, they have excellent prices and, as he said, they have the best Tiramisu in Brno.
I had been there before already, and to be honest I didn't like the fact that you sit, eat and leave, due to the heavy rotation of diners due to the fact that this place is more like a cafeteria, and even though I liked the food there, to be honest I couldn't remember if their Tiramisu was good. So I decided to go to Tivoli.
Located in the crossroad of Brno, one direction takes you to Mendlovo Namesti, the other one takes you to Svitavy, if you go south, you will ind up in the city center, and you can go east and you will find the park Luzanky.
Tivoli, a non-smoking place open on Sunday with a huge space to seat a lot of people, horrible paintings hanging on the walls (maybe someone's exhibition), a very nice smiling waitress who despite the fact of being super slow, smiled a lot and was nice, and did I mention the non-smoking cafeteria thingy?
Well, the food I had there to warm up for the Tiramisu was Onion Soup and Veal Stew with Tagliatelle. After having drunk almost half of my 0.5l beer, the waitress finally arrived with the soups. Ivan had Beef Broth and to be honest, his soup looked a lot tastier than mine.
I love Onion Soup, when I am the one cooking it. This one was extremely sweet. And yes, I googled what the taste of onion was. Onions are sweet. But come on, I am not a fan of sweet soups. I struggled to finish the first course. The Veal with Tagliatelle was a lot better than what I had expected. I was so much into finishing off the food so that I could finally have my reward.
The time had come. So we ordered two Tiramisus and two large cups of coffee with milk.
To my surprise, the sweet dessert came into a rather small glass container. I poured the milk into the coffee and stirred it a couple of times and then I frantically devoured the Italian delicacy that in English means "Pick me up". It wasn't what I had been longing for. It was good, but I wasn't satisfied. Ivan, seeing my frustration, suggested that I had a second one. Just to have enough, he said.
I ate the second one as fast as the first one. Ivan was right. I had now had enough Tiramisu to at least calm my urge for the frozen egg-yolk-and-mascarpone treat.
When the bill was laid on the table, I saw that Sunday lunch came up to be something around the 800kc. With 40kc-beer and sweet soup.
The hunt for the best Tiramisu in Brno will continue soon again.
